"Dr Heather Spence of Food Management (NZ) Ltd has a longstanding association with the Department of Human Nutrition at the University of Otago.

She has acted as adviser with regard to all our food service management papers (undergraduate and postgraduate). Her thorough external examiner's reports have played a major role in ensuring the ongoing quality of our teaching programme.

She is in the unique position of being able to bring a wealth of professional practical experience, gathered against a background of personal outstanding academic achievement (she was the first New Zealand trained dietitian to be awarded a PhD degree) to a relatively new academic discipline.

Heather Spence's input to dietetic training makes a substantial contribution to the extremely high regard for New Zealand trained dietitians internationally."
